Method for Addressing the Board
revised 9/14/07
A person who wishes to address the Board of Directors
should, if possible, make his or her request to the GVCS Director on the
Monday (one week) prior to the School Board Meeting, preferably in writing, indicating the subject
of his or her remarks. The agenda for a Regular Board Meeting is closed at
11:00 a.m. seven days prior to the meeting. If the topic is not one that is listed on the agenda, the
Board of Directors will be pleased to hear comments from the public, however, it
is the policy of the Board to not take action at this meeting (Education Code
35145.4).
Presentations
-
Three minutes may be allotted to each speaker, with a
maximum of twenty minutes to each subject matter.
-
No boisterous conduct will be permitted at any Governing
Board Meeting. Persistence in boisterous conduct shall be grounds for summary
termination by the chair of that person’s privilege of address.
-
“Any person who willfully disturbs any public school or
any public school meeting is guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be punished by a
fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.).” (Education Code32210)
-
No oral presentation shall include charges or complaints
against any employee of the Governing Board, regardless of whether or not the
employee is identified. All charges and complaints against employees should be
submitted in writing and signed by the person making the charge. Personnel
matters, with rare exceptions, are discussed by the Board of Directors in Closed
Executive Sessions, as provided by law.
