General Educational Development (GED)

revised 8/10/07

The GED is not required for GVCS students.  GVCS graduates receive a GVCS diploma or certificate of completion.

For general information, visit the GED website.

The GED is a voluntary test that measures the academic skills and general knowledge expected of a high school graduate.  The GED may be taken by students who are 18 years or older for the purpose of receiving the California High School Equivalency Certificate.

Testing schedules are determined by local testing centers over a one- to three-day period. The entire test takes about seven-and-a-half hours to complete. The charge is approximately $100.

Additional information, including practice questions, can be accessed on the GED website or on the GED section of the CDE website.
