GVCS Library Hours & Procedures

There are 2 ways to search for books in the GVCS Virtual Library. The following describes the 2 different procedures:
WebSafari
Web Safari is the newest addition to the GVCS Library. Many of you asked for a Search Engine/Immediate Update, and Web Safari provides that and more! Inventory is updated by the minute. Please visit our site at:

Once there, you can perform a “Simple Search” by Author, Title, Subject or Keyword. Click on “Advanced Search” and you are able to search by Call Number (i.e. LA, MATH, SCI, SocSt, LS, ARTS, ELC, REF, INC, FL). You can even set your Search for only books, VHS Tapes, Reference Materials or Software. Click the checkbox for “Show only materials in GVCS Library (not Checked out)”, and the system will let you know how many copies we have available.
You can also add items to the "Book Bag". This will allow you to have a list of all the items you want. Print it, and bring it to your next library visit to make browsing easier!
For those of you that would still like to see a complete listing of the textbooks in the library by subject, you may still use the links below. We will only update the lists on a monthly basis, so if you’d like a more accurate listing of what is in the library, please try Web Safari.
NOTE: Due Dates are not enforced. When the system shows a due date, that does NOT mean a book will be available in the library by that date. The system automatically assigns due dates when items are checked out, but GVCS does not enforce these dates. To avoid seeing items that are not in the library, use the "Advanced Search" feature. This allows you to search only for items that are available. Also, you may not "reserve" books through the website.
Virtual Library Lists
The lists below indicate items that are currently on our shelves and that should be available for checkout. Please be aware that we are not able to update the posting on a daily basis, so something you want that appears here on these lists may not actually be available, as it may have been recently checked out by another. Knowing this, feel free to ask your ES to find out for you. We will keep it updated as much as possible. When you locate something that you would like to check out, please let your Education Specialist know, and s/he will arrange to get the materials to you as soon as possible.
NOTE: We are working to better organize our "shelves," so please be aware that some materials may be listed in categories other than where they truly belong. For example, some Geography materials may currently be listed on the Social Studies page, but soon, they will be moving to their proper home on the Special Interests Electives page.
