Christine has a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies, along with a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. She was a traditional classroom teacher for 9 years which during that time earned a Master’s Degree in Education. She took time off from teaching to have children but eventually went back to work for Golden Valley Charter School which not only offered her a flexible working schedule but a great opportunity to work with wonderful home school families. She currently lives in Agoura, CA with her husband and 3 busy boys!
Anne graduated from University of Michigan with a BS in Special Education and then moved to California and completed her teaching credential and Master's degree in Special Education from California State University, Northridge. She began working at Golden Valley in 2002 and enjoys supporting families with their individualized learning styles/goals. She has 3 children, 2 cats, 1 bunny, many fish and a patient husband. When she is not working, she reads books (especially cookbooks!), runs, hikes and travels to see her kids who are no longer living at home.
Laura is a homeschooling parent and teacher who lives in Simi Valley with her husband and three daughters. She loves to spend free time hiking the local foothills, wandering for hours through art museums and reading favorite books until the wee hours of the night. She values her work in the GV community, supporting parents in providing a meaningful and enriched education for their students.
Melissa Barnett has been working in education since 2000, and carries a Masters in Education, Multiple Subject teaching credential in addition to experience as a high school guidance counselor and academic tutor. Though her experiences are varied, her passion is found in partnering with homeschooling families as a source of encouragement and support. Mother of 4, and fellow homeschooler, Melissa is thankful for a vocation that meaningfully ties her love of homeschooling with her professional background.
Amanda has been with GVCS since 2013 as an Education Facilitator. She lives in Moorpark with her husband and two children . Before working for GV she worked as a second and third grade teacher and she has grown to love all aspects of teaching and learning. She loves encouraging and growing with each of her families as they take on the wonderful adventures of homeschooling. Her three favorite things are playing with her kids, going on dates with her husband, and reading good books.
It’s been a joy and pleasure serving independent study students and their families for over 15 years. Prior to homeschooling my own children, I taught elementary school for 8 years in the public school system. I enjoy reading, watching movies, listening to talk radio, and attending church activities with my family.
Tabeth has been a teacher since 1990 and with Golden Valley since 2006. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art and her Master’s in Education. She loves to spend time with her family outdoors and traveling to Illinois each year to visit more family. She enjoys quilting, reading and working with stained glass. She is grateful to be a guiding light to her GVCS families.
Laura Guy lives in Camarillo with her husband and five children. A fellow homeschooler for eleven years, she loves her job working with so many wonderful families as they take a central role in the education of their children. She is pleased to have been working with Golden Valley since 2002 and looks forward to doing so for many more years to come.
Stephanie HagenbachI have 3 awesome kids, 2 amazing dogs, and 1 husband who puts up with it all! I love my GVCS students and really enjoy my work. I have home schooled myself and believe in the difference that choices in education offer today's students. I have found my home here with Golden Valley Charter and consider it a privilege to come alongside so many creative and inspiring parents and students. When not being a mom, wife, or EF, I love to hike, read, binge watch Netflix, and drink lots and lots of tea.
Jackie has been working in independent study charter schools since 2000. She holds two California teaching credentials, one in Multiple Subjects and one in Single Subject- Social Sciences. In a previous life, she taught U.S. History and was a College Guidance Counselor. In her current life, she has 6 grown children who were all home-schooled through the 8th grade. She loves helping parents home-educate their children! She is the proud grandmother of 7 and loves hiking and skiing in the Eastern Sierra, beach camping, and visiting the birthplaces and homes of the U.S. Presidents.
Hayley Hamilton began teaching math at Emerson middle school in LAUSD in 2002 while attending UCLA to complete her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. After 3 years she moved to Ventura and taught at Rio De Valle Jr. High while completing a Masters in School Administration. In 2006 she became a mom and was lucky enough to work part time at Ventura Charter School. In 2012 she joined the GVCS team. She feels fortunate to have the flexibility to work in education with wonderful homeschool families while also being mom to 3 fantastic children. In her spare time she loves to spend time with her family, hiking, snowboarding or playing at the beach.
I have been in education since 2005. My teaching career has always been in charter schools and I love the choice that charter schools offer families. I have had the pleasure of working with students, parents and the staff at Golden Valley since 2012.
Sylvia Klein has been an Education Facilitator for 12 years. She serves Los Angeles County.
I live happily with my husband in Pasadena. We have three amazing, grown children. I have been in education since 1989. I spent 10 years of that time homeschooling my own children. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work for Golden Valley Charter School and with the amazing families who have the courage to take an active role in their children's education. Cindy Marston Cindy has been teaching since 1998 with a credential in high school biology. She has been with Golden Valley Charter School since 2002 and has truly found her home here. She loves hanging out with her husband and their three kids. She likes chocolate, quiet time, bird watching, and her morning walks.
Norma completed her undergraduate work in Boston, and subsequently earned her M. Ed. in CA. She’s taught at traditional schools, homeschooled her two boys, and has worked at GVCS since 2011. These are a few of her favorite things: her husband, her two sons, the beach, and rooting for any New England sports teams!
Appolina began her career in education in 1999. She has been with GVCS since 2013. She loves working as an Education Facilitator and feels blessed to be a part of the GVCS homeschool community. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids, playing tennis and gardening.
Cynthia Peterson, EF Advisor
Cindi has been with GVCS since 2002 and is in her twenty-sixth year in education, having served in private, public traditional, and now charter homeschool settings. She is a graduate of Wheaton College (IL), Purdue University (IN), and has her Masters in Educational Administration from Pepperdine University. She feels GVCS is one of the best run charter schools in California and is supportive of parent choice in educating the child. Cindi enjoys many interests, including visiting family in Ohio, writing, the outdoors, photography, reading, and renovating their 100-year old bungalow home. She lives with her husband, the big dog, and two housemates in the San Gabriel Valley area of Los Angeles County.
Tricia has been teaching since 1999. She began teaching Math in the middle school classroom and then became the new teacher project mentor for her district. This is her 7th year now with Golden Valley. She loves working with her homeschool families. Tricia received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Arizona State University and her Masters in Teaching and Learning from the University of California Santa Barbara. She holds a multiple subject credential and a single-subject math credential. She enjoys cooking, baking, and gardening.
I began teaching in a general ed classroom in 2001 and have worked with children from grades K-12 throughout my teaching career. I graduated from Cal State University Northridge with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts and completed a K-12 teaching credential. Following that, I continued my education and earned a masters degree in educational leadership and an administrative credential. My two passions in life are my family and education! I am pleased to have worked at GVCS since 2013 and am happy to be starting my 4th year.
Joyce Salsberry has been with Golden Valley Charter School since 2003. She is a great proponent of charter schools and homeschooling and she enjoys sharing her own homeschooling experience with her Golden Valley families. Joyce uses the opportunity, accountability and support Golden Valley offers to better provide families with the knowledge and encouragement they need to teach their own children. She looks forward to many more years as a part of the GVCS family.
Cheryl Scudder, EF Advisor
Cheryl has worked in the realm of personalized learning charter schools since 1999 and for Golden Valley Charter since 2004. She has taught in the classroom, as well as experienced homeschooling her own children. When she isn't working, she loves to spend time with her family, is involved in church activities, enjoys reading and, like Winnie the Pooh, is always looking for the next grand adventure!
I have been in education for 18 years and have taught grades K, 2 and 3. I love working for Golden Valley for many reasons, but mostly because the GV parents are passionate and excited about teaching their kids, and the kids are passionate and excited about learning! Not to mention the GVCS staff is amazing in every way! When I am not working, I enjoy spending my time at the beach and traveling to tropical places with my wonderful husband and my 2 amazing kids. Also, I LOVE going to a good concert and listening to music- especially Keith Urban! :)
Tiffany began teaching in 1993, teaching middle school math and science. Her love for teaching and connecting with students and families continues with her work at GVCS. She is inspired by the families that devote their time and passion to teaching their children at home and feels privileged to be part of the process. She has two beautiful daughters, Ella and Lucy, a big dog named Baloo and a supportive partner Mark that encourage her to be the best person she can be. In her free time she loves to spend time with her friends and family, hike, do yoga, and entertain. All in all – life is great!
I have been in education since 1997, I have worked in a public classroom setting and at Golden Valley for the past 6 years. I have three wonderful children ages 14, 12, and 7 that keep me very busy as a taxi, baseball mom, and homework helper, and in my free time I enjoy long distance swimming. My favorite part of my job is working with families, watching the students grow and learn, and helping parents create an educational program that best fits their child's learning style.

My name is Wendy Theobald. I have worked as an EF for Golden Valley Charter School since 2004. I love working with my GV students/families. It is a pleasure to work for a school with such wonderful and professional teachers/staff. Before working for GV I worked as a high school math teacher for 8 years and so of course, I love math. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family. We love to visit amusement parks, the beach or just hang out and watch a movie.
My name is Lorrie Veiga. I have worked as an EF for Golden Valley Charter School since 2004. I love working with my GV students/families. It is a pleasure to work for a school with such wonderful and professional teachers/staff.
I have been in the education field since 1994 and this will be my 4th year with Golden Valley Charter School. I couldn’t be happier to be a part of such an amazing and supportive staff! I homeschool my own 4 children and am familiar with all the joys and frustrations that may come along with homeschooling. I love being the cheerleader for parents and students who choose this route. In my free time, I like to read, watch movies, take road trips, go camping and take an occasional cruise now and then.
