JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:  Speech and Language Therapist

Reports to and performance evaluated by: Director of Special Education

Golden Valley Charter School serves home-educated students in the counties of Ventura, Los Angeles, and Kern. This position involves travel to meet with individual students within a reasonable geographic location, and does not necessarily require travel within all three counties. Hours may vary, depending on location of employee and students, and it is probable that this school will hire more than one Speech and Language Therapist to adequately cover school and student needs.

Summary:  Under the direction of the Special Education Director, is responsible for the following:

Providing specialized instruction and services to identified speech, language, or hearing impaired students in small groups or individually as specified by their Individualized Education Plans (IEP).

The therapist must possess competencies in conducting multiple speech and language assessments; development of accompanying assessment reports; IEP and goal development; monitoring of assigned student’s progress; and ability to communicate with parents and staff regarding any phase of these duties.

The Speech and Language Specialist must demonstrate the skills, knowledge and performance competencies adopted by the Commission on Teacher Preparation and Licensing, and the State Board and possess appropriate credentials and/or licenses.  

Salary: Commensurate with other districts
